Hiking the Notch Trail in Badlands National Park

Badlands NP was the first national park I visited in the United States so I was pretty excited about an opportunity to do a mini hike there. Our group had a choice of a few different routes but I went with the short Notch Trail.

Hiking in Peneda-Gerês National Park – PR7/Trilho de São Bento

While I only spent around 24 hours in the area, hiking in Peneda-Gerês National Park was one of the highlights of my trip to Portugal.

My second hike in Peneda-Gerês National Park started and finished in a small village of São Bento. The trail led me up to a lookout point high above the valley and offered some amazing views.  It  didn’t go as smoothly as the as the PR3 hike I did the previous day yet it was still an awesome experience.

Hiking the PR3 Trail in Peneda-Gerês National Park, Portugal

Hiking in Peneda-Gerês National Park was high on my list of things to do in Portugal. Even though I only had less than two days to explore the park, I discovered an area of stunning natural beauty and managed to fit in a couple of hikes as well as explore a pretty town of Gerês.

Seoraksan National Park: Hiking to Daecheongbong Peak

A hike in Seoraksan National Park was one of the few that I definitely wanted to do on my visit to Korea. Its stunning rock formations and abundance of flora and fauna earned it a status of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The park’s main peak, Daecheongbong (1708m) also happens to be the third highest in Korea. Which, of course meant that I had to climb it!

Miyajima: Hiking Mt. Misen On Japan’s Sacred Island

One of my favourite spots in Japan has to be the beautiful island of Miyajima. With its dense forests, ancient shrines and great hiking options, it’s a popular day trip from Hiroshima and is famous for one of the most scenic views in the whole country.

Hiking in Calanques National Park, Marseille

It’s not often that you get an opportunity to hike in a national park just outside a major city. So when I found out about Calanques National Park, within an easy reach of central Marseille, I just had to check it out!

Walking the Nakasendo: Magome to Tsumago Hike

Walking a part of the ancient Nakasendo Way was one of the must-dos on my trip to Japan. While hiking may not immediately spring to mind when coming up with an ultimate Japan bucket  list, I could not miss the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of shogun and samurai.

Walking the Nakasendo: Magome and the Stone Pavement of Ochiai

The Nakasendo Way is hardly a secret (it’s listed in the top 25 things to do in Japan by Lonely Planet), yet it doesn’t feature on many first-time visitors’ itineraries. If, like me, you love being active and want to get a taste of rural Japan, a visit to Magome, one of Nakasendo’s prettiest spots, should be near the top of your list.
