It’s not often that you get an opportunity to hike in a national park just outside a major city. So when I found out about Calanques National Park, within an easy reach of central Marseille, I just had to check it out!
Marseille doesn’t immediately spring to mind when most people start planning a trip to France. While tourists flock to the lights of Paris, wine regions of Bordeaux and Champagne and the glamour of Cote d’Azur, any mentions of Marseille tend to draw confused looks.
There is never a shortage of things to see and do in the City of Love. From grand palaces and celebrated art museums to beautifully landscaped gardens and romantic walks along the Seine, Paris is teeming with opportunities for exploring. However, there is a lot more to the city than the usual suspects of Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and Sacré-Cœur so I decided to try and get off the beaten track on my latest visit to France’s eclectic capital.
