Muktinath to Jomsom: Day Eleven On The Annapurna Circuit

Read on for a detailed account of our eleventh day on the Annapurna Circuit. Today, we trekked from Muktinath to Jomsom, also visiting the pretty village of Kagbeni, covering a total distance of 20.2 km in around 7.25 hours. This was a long day that took us tantalisingly close to the remote Upper Mustang region and culminated in a town where most trekkers end their Annapurna Circuit adventure.

Here’s something a little different. Erik Bertrand Amme, who I trekked the entire length of the Annapurna Circuit with has kindly agreed to provide his honest account of one of the hardest days of our trek. Today saw us crossing Thorong-La Pass – at 5416m, one of the highest mountain passes in the world.

Read on for a detailed account of our tenth day on the Annapurna Circuit. Today, we trekked from Thorong Phedi to Muktinath crossing the Thorong-La Pass, covering a total distance of 15.1 km in around 8.5 hours. This was a culmination of a lot of hard work, with the payoff being the opportunity to cross one of the highest navigable passes in the world.
