Guinsa temple was high on my list of things to see on my trip to South Korea. The headquarters of the Cheontae Order of Korean Buddhism is one of the most striking temple complexes in Korea and after reading about it, I just had to check it out!
Tokyo is one of the most exciting cities in the world. Japan’s cool capital has something for everyone – from ancient temples and historic neighbourhoods to maid cafes and a giant Godzilla head. Unlike many cities around the world it’s pretty light on actual landmarks but experiencing it is a highlight of any Japan itinerary.
One of my favourite spots in Japan has to be the beautiful island of Miyajima. With its dense forests, ancient shrines and great hiking options, it’s a popular day trip from Hiroshima and is famous for one of the most scenic views in the whole country.
The messenger of the Gods paused, looked up and proceeded to headbutt a small child who fell to the ground in shock, tears running down her face. It definitely wasn’t the type of behaviour I expected from a divine being! Except, of course this wasn’t a case of extreme child abuse – Nara’s so-called messengers of the Gods are…deer!
Escape the crazy pace of Bangkok and head north to the charming city of Chiang Mai. The laid-back pace of life here seems at odds with the throngs of tourists visiting the city, yet it somehow manages to retain an air of calm not found in the capital.
