Just 45 kilometres away from the canals, coffee shops and the Red Light District of Amsterdam is a city of Utrecht, the largest in the province of the same name. Despite being so close, it isn’t on many tourists’ itineraries who prefer to indulge in the capital’s pleasures.

When people think of food in Amsterdam they are likely to name waffles, pancakes and fries. While these are all great, there is so much more to the Dutch capital’s culinary scene. During my recent visit I went on a hunt for good, healthy food and found some great options and managed to indulge a bit too!
Koningsdag, or King’s Day, is one of the most important dates in the Dutch calendar. The birthday of the King of Netherlands is a national holiday and is celebrated country-wide with events, festivals and street parties. The capital is a great place to join the biggest street party of the year and I decided to join the festivities myself this April.
Here is a list of some of the best things to see and do on your visit to the Moroccan capital. Let me know if I have missed anything out in my list of Marrakech sights in the comments!

There is no shortage of places to eat and drink in the Marrakech medina. From curb-side stalls selling bread and orange juice to open air restaurants serving the finest Moroccan food to upmarket cocktail bars, Marrakech medina has options for all tastes and budgets.

The indigenous Berber fare combines with flavours from Southern Europe and the Middle East to create a unique and tasty cuisine. While often imitated around the world, there is nothing like sampling its offerings among the locals, pulling up a pew at the lively Djemaa el-Fna square or grabbing a treat from a street stall.
Koh Chang, Thailand’s second largest island, isn’t on many first time visitors’ bucket lists. While tourists flock to Phuket for their package holidays and backpackers do the obligatory island hopping on the “Banana Pancake Trail”, Koh Chang’s white sandy beaches are still relatively unspoilt.

I first stopped over at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport 2 years ago on my way back to London from Australia. With Chinese airlines gaining prominence and offering some of the most attractive deals to Western customers, more and more holidaymakers are choosing to fly to South East Asia and beyond with airlines such as China Southern.
