With technology now allowing us to carry whole libraries with us anywhere we go, is there still a place in our luggage for a good old travel guide? I know some people that won’t leave their house without one and others who prefer to not lug heavy books around with them.
So the hard part is out the way…No, seriously! Deciding to travel is one of the best decisions you are likely to make in your life but it is also one of the toughest. Soon you will be exploring ancient ruins, climbing mountains and trying exotic foods from around the world, but deciding to take the plunge can be difficult.
I decided to enjoy the fantastic weather that descended on London this weekend and my buddy and I headed to Borough Market (see my post on my first visit here) and got some chicken gyoza and freshly-made bread. As we looked for somewhere to sit and enjoy the sunshine and the food, we heard the sounds of music coming from around the corner.
So I’ve turned 30 a couple of months back and I must be having some sort of a crisis because I’ve been thinking about what I’m doing with my life. I have quite a few plans for the next ten years, namely to visit 60 countries before I turn 40 but at the rate I am going, I might need to be a bit more ambitious!
We have all wanted to bring a slice of paradise back from our travels. A small piece of a faraway land, a memory encapsulated in an object. Something to remind us of our trip and make us vow to return.
When I travelled through South East Asia, I picked up loads of friendships bracelets from every place I visited to remind me of where I’ve been.
