With Eurostar launching its latest express sale yesterday in the UK (see the deals here), you can travel to Paris for as little as £32 one way. Here are 5 things you could do over a long French weekend!
1. Wander around the Louvre
One of the world’s most visited museums, the Louvre’s collections are some of the most impressive out there. It would probably take you years to see everything the Louvre has to offer but make sure you check out the Ancient Egypt collection, Venus de Milo and, of course, the Mona Lisa. If you can get close to it that is – it’s surprisingly small and you will have to fight through sea of tourists to get a good photo.
2. Climb to the top of Notre Dame de Paris
The grandiose cathedral on the banks of the Seine is one of Paris’ most iconic sights, but surprisingly few people make their way up the 400 steps to get to the top. Which is a shame, because the panoramic view from the roof is fantastic. Spot the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur and Tour Montparnasse before descending back to the ground and treating yourself to some crepes!
3. Explore Monmartre
While Sacré-Cœur is the top attraction here, take time to walk around the surrounding streets and pop into numerous boutiques before climbing up to the top of the hill and watching the inevitable street artists strut their staff from the steps while enjoying views of the city.
4. See the Eiffel Tower
As cliché as this might sound, no visit to Paris is complete without seeing its star attraction. Climb a portion on foot before taking the lift the rest of the way to the top. Or for an alternative view, join one of the numerous cruises and see the tower from the river.
You are in Paris! Enjoy the incredible food on offer – from baguettes to macarons to cheese, Paris has you covered. Grab a snack from one of the many patisseries and boulangeries or splash out at one of the city’s 70+ Michelin restaurants.
